The Board of Directors of VIRD Foundation establishes the Sharia Advisory Council as an independent advisory and Sharia-review organ to provide qualified guidance and assurance concerning Islamic community-development, charitable and social-finance activities.
Purpose
- Provide independent Sharia guidance to the Board and management.
- Review and advise on the design and implementation of Islamic charitable and social-finance instruments.
- Protect the integrity of restricted Islamic funds and faith-specific programmes.
- Promote consistent, documented and auditable Sharia decision-making.
- Review material Sharia non-compliance and recommend corrective treatment.
- Strengthen confidence among donors, beneficiaries, partners and other stakeholders.
