Vantageway Islamic Relief & Development Foundation (VIRD Foundation) is a Ghana-based, non-profit, non-political, community-centred, faith-inspired, inclusive and non-discriminatory humanitarian and development organisation established in response to the persistent and interconnected vulnerabilities experienced by individuals, households and communities, particularly those living in underserved and economically disadvantaged areas.

VIRD foundation seeks to bridge the gap between emergency assistance and long-term development.

We believe that people should not remain permanently dependent on assistance. Humanitarian support should, wherever possible, create pathways toward recovery, resilience, empowerment and sustainable opportunity.

In many underserved communities, these challenges do not occur in isolation. A household experiencing food insecurity may also face inadequate water and sanitation, poor access to healthcare, limited educational opportunities and insufficient income. Similarly, young people may face barriers to skills development and employment, while women and vulnerable households may have limited access to productive assets, finance and social protection. These interconnected challenges require responses that go beyond short-term relief and address the underlying factors that perpetuate vulnerability.

VIRD Foundation therefore adopts an integrated humanitarian, development and resilience approach that combines immediate assistance with longer-term interventions aimed at strengthening household and community capacity. The Foundation seeks to support communities not only during periods of crisis, but also in their efforts to recover, become more resilient and create sustainable pathways towards improved livelihoods and self-reliance.
